Working Away is a research project supported by the University of Melbourne, Western Sydney University, and the Australian Research Council to better understand how mobile work is transforming Australian homes

SOLUTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLDS

We’ve spent four years researching the challenges that arise where one household member works away from home for days or weeks at a time. Our animation provides a range of practical solutions which we hope will be helpful to current mobile worker families, or families contemplating mobile work in the future.

PROJECT REPORT

Our project report provides helpful information for those involved in industries in which working away is integral. It outlines how working away creates challenges for relationships, health, homemaking, parenting and partner employment, and it proposes a series of recommendations for improving the experience of working away for those involved.
